It’s been a while since my last post and I was going to greet you with reasons (excuses) for why it’s been so long but quite frankly, as a lady of advancing years, I’ve decided I don’t have to!
Age is taking its toll on me now; I was 15 on the 13th March 2017 which apparently is 105 in your years. My hips and legs haven’t been so good lately and I’ve been resting a lot more but at my age, I think that’s allowed.
Mum laughed at me when she saw me on the couch like this but if people can ‘put their feet up’ when they ache, why is it so funny that I’ve put my hips and legs up? Humans! (imagine me rolling my eyes here please).
As well as struggling with my old legs I’ve been dealing with a water infection that keeps coming back – something all ladies of my age suffer with I suppose? On my walks (which are quite short now) I’ve had to repeatedly suffer the public indignity of mum or dad unceremoniously shoving a plastic tub under me when I have a wee! I’m so humiliated by this but they always seem strangely pleased they’ve been able to collect some!
This rudely obtained sample is carefully packaged and rushed off to the vets for them to check how I’m doing and how much longer I’ll need tablets for. I’ve had lots of tests but my vet still isn’t sure why the infection keeps coming back. They had to look at my bladder at the vets and I heard them saying something about ‘Drew’ and ‘cultured’, I was flattered; I am quite cultured so I’m not surprised they noticed.
I’m feeling a bit better now but I’m still on antibiotics twice a day for a few more weeks. Mum and dad think they’re tricking me when they wrap them up in a tiny piece of bread or some other treat but I know what they’re up to. Obviously I play along with this because any extra treats are fine with me! Who’s the fool here?!
There has been another recent development in my life but it’s worthy of its own blog and I’m not going to take the focus off me and tell you about it here. All I’ll say for the moment is that for once, it doesn’t involve any chickens……
Anyway, enough from me now. I can hear the couch calling me and although I don’t need more beauty sleep (obviously!) I’m going to go for a little nap!
Look out for my next post – I promise it’ll be worth it!
Drew xx
[P.S. I know I said at the start I wasn’t going to give you reasons (excuses) for not blogging for a while but I’ve just thought of a really good one! ‘My Chickens’ was hacked, yes, hacked. The lovely blog that mum wrote about Blossom was replaced with some horrible things by someone else but Mum’s pretty clever, and she managed to sort it out. I’m glad, I was worrying I wouldn’t be able to blog again!]
