I’ve been catching up on my blogs today and I just wanted to do one last really quick one this evening. Today is my birthday (21 again in case you’re wondering!) and I wanted to show you my gifts as there’s definitely a recurring theme!
As a hen owner, it’s fair to say I have a few hen related things around the house – hen tea towels, hen mugs, hen shopping bags, hen money boxes – you get the idea. This morning my husband gave me a big pile of presents and as I started opening them he said that there was a theme.
When I opened a small iced fruit cake I was quite excited – the theme is cake! Excellent! Who wouldn’t want cake themed presents! I moved on to the next present which was a CD – a slight deviation from the cake theme but that was fine, I could listen to it whilst I ate cake. After I’d opened the next few presents, I realised that cake wasn’t the theme. Unsurprisingly, it was chickens!
At work we all take it turns to do the ‘brew round’ and with this mug, no one will ever wonder who it belongs to! I don’t think I’m crazy but I’m sure there are people who would disagree. The wooden sign is true as I do have a few OCD tendencies and Obsessive Compulsive Chicken Disorder! I’m going to hang this in the Chicken Run with the other bits I’ve got in there. I absolutely love the note book – ‘Peace, Love, Chickens’!
It has lined pages and is nice and slim so I can carry it round in my bag and record those flashes of blogging inspiration when they strike! The next batch of presents I opened were also hen related (not even a cake crumb in sight!). There was a cute fridge magnet ‘Keep Calm and Love Chickens’ – a sentiment I agree with whole heartedly, two really cute little hen ornaments, a rustic looking hanging heart with chickens on and a cute shabby chic, white hanging hen. Apparently there’s still one present on its way and that follows the same theme – I’ll let you know what it is when it arrives!
I should probably mention that I did get some new pyjamas too but there were no chickens in sight on those – perhaps they don’t make hen pyjamas for ‘grown ups’?
My final hen related present was from my sister and it still makes me smile when I think of it. It’s a hooded jumper with ‘World’s Best Chicken Mum’ on the front of it! It will look perfect accessorised with a hen or two so watch this space for photos!
When I turned on my computer today and went to the Google Homepage I was really surprised to see Google made up of Birthday Cakes – did Google know it was my Birthday and if it did, how? I hovered over the image and it said, ‘Happy Birthday My Chickens’ – Google knew!
It’s quite fitting really that I should have hen themed birthday gifts as my first girls were a birthday present from my mum in 2011. I think my husband got some of my gifts from Amazon. I’m sure it influenced him by saying ‘people who bought this, also bought this’ and he just kept clicking ‘add to basket’! I love all my hen presents and I can’t wait to see what my final one is when it arrives!
Now, I’m off to get a slice of cake!
